1st Announcement – Call for papers

UK CARE and the Annual General Meeting

The UK Chinese Association of Resources and Environment (UK CARE), founded in 2000, is a UK based academic organisation aiming to provide a high-quality international technical and information forum between China and UK in the areas of resources and environment, sustainable development, air and water quality and renewable energy. It seeks to promote the communication, collaboration and consensus building among the Chinese and British research institutes and individuals for professional development and projects. As one of the key parts of the organisation’s remit, the Annual General Meeting aims to provide a platform where environmental professionals in the UK and China can present and exchange their research findings and outputs.

Provisional programme

It is planned that the AGM will take the forms of oral presentations, poster presentations and workshops. Both Chinese and English can be used during the meeting. No registration fee is needed. Funding will be made available to subsidise travel costs inside the UK. Overseas attendees will be responsible for their travelling arrangement and expenses. Light lunch and refreshments will be provided to all attendees free of charge. A Best Paper Award has been set up for students / young researchers attending the meeting.

It is planned that the AGM proceedings will be published on an ISBN labelled CD ROM and will be posted on the UK CARE website.

Registration, Submission and Key Dates

If you are interested in oral and/or postal presentation, please first submit a 200-word abstract. The full paper will be no more than six A4 pages. It is noted that the submission of a full paper will be optional since some organisations may not want to publish detailed information. Normally each attendee should not submit more than one abstract as the first author. Submitting an abstract/paper is not an essential condition to attend the AGM. Full paper can be submitted after the meeting.

Registration and/or Submission of Abstract: Before Thursday 31^st July 2008

Notification of Acceptance: Friday 15^th August 2008

Submission of Powerpoint presentation: Monday 1^st September 2008

Submission of Full paper (optional): Wednesday 15^th October 2008

Travel information will be posted on later announcement or please consult the organising committee for details. A guided tour will be arranged for interested delegates to visit University Park of Nottingham University during the lunch time. There will be no charge for this service.
